The Palestra Fitness Center features state-of-the-art equipment and offers members the opportunity to work with a personal trainer to meet all of your fitness goals.

Spa & Massage

The Penn Club massage therapy is a customized service tailored to each individual member and their needs. Our licensed massage therapists are professionals who work alongside physical therapists and exercise specialists to ensure safe and effective treatments for every member. The massage services are available to all members of The Penn Club.

Massages are available by appointment only. Members and their guests staying overnight may also request a convenient "in-room" massage for an additional fee.

  • Shiatsu
      • A traditional Japanese massage uses "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure)

  • Sports/Deep Tissue Massage
      • A more vigorous massage that helps you keep training at your peak level
      • Speeds up healing of injuries

  • Reflexology
      • A revitalizing massage focusing on the feet
      • Improves circulation
      • Alleviates discomfort
      • Reduces stress

  • Aromatherapy
    • Using pre-blended oils that the client picks out, we perform this massage with the "enhancements" of essential oils. Oils are placed in a diffuser to spread the scent in the room. The massage is then performed with massage oil that has the same essential oils in it, so they can soak in through the skin. The varieties are cold & flu relief, muscle relief, anti-stress remedy, respiration, relaxation, and energize.

  • In-Room Massage
    • This 1 hour minimum treatment done in the client's overnight guestroom caters to the client's needs. The maximum is 2 hours per person. After-hours in-room massage is available on a case-by-case basis.

Fitness Programs
Personal training assures is a safe, motivating way to ensure results and establish a healthy lifestyle. Take advantage of the opportunity to work with one of our personal trainers as they assess your current fitness and design a plan tailored to your fitness goals.
  • Fitness Evaluation
    • A comprehensive array of fitness tests to ensure safe and effective exercise programming. Recommended for all regular One-To-One, CROSStraining, and PLUStraining member clients.

  • One-to-One Training
    • A 60-minute session with a personal trainer that can include components for flexibility, strength, endurance, aerobic power, anaerobic power, movement and coordination. All regular One-To-One member clients are assigned to an exercise advisor who oversees the program to ensure continuity and effectiveness.

Squash
  • Squash Privileges
    • As part of membership benefit, Penn Club members have the privilege of using the squash facilities and locker rooms at the Yale Club of New York, located at 50 Vanderbilt Avenue between 44th Street and 45th Street. Penn Club members need not belong to the Palestra Fitness Center to have access to these squash courts. Squash facilities include three International courts. Members may participate in inter-club tournaments and ladders. Applicable court fees apply: 45 minutes $20 per player (minimum $40 court rental)
  • Guest Fees
    • Should a Penn Club member wish to play squash with a non-member friend or colleague, the total for a court rental would be $55.

  • Yale Club Rules for Squash Players
    • All Penn Club members are advised to adhere to these rules. Squash privileges at the Yale Club are based on a courtesy agreement. The Yale Club is not obliged to accept squash court reservations for those members who do not comply with Yale Club rules.

      • Penn Club members are only allowed to reserve a court three days in advance.
      • Goggles must be worn while playing squash at all times.
      • Reciprocity is for the squash courts only. During the time of the squash reservation, Penn Club members have access to the Yale Club's 5th Floor locker room facilities. No usage of the gym or any other area of the Yale Club is permitted; Penn Club members only have access to the squash courts and 5th Floor locker room facilities during this time and are not permitted to use cardio or weight equipment, access the pool, or use any other Club facility such as the Main Lounge, Dining Rooms, or Library.

      Squash at the Yale Club

      Weekdays: 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
      Weekends: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
      - court rental fees apply

      *During holidays, weekend hours of operation apply.

  • Rates
    • There is no charge to utilize the Palestra Fitness Center when members are staying in the overnight guest rooms. For those who are not staying overnight in the guest rooms, an a la carte rate of $15 per visit applies. However for those who wish to work-out more regularly, they can save by joining the Palestra Fitness Center as a gym member.

      Palestra Fitness Center Membership
      For an additional yearly fee, members may add the Palestra Fitness Center to their account at any time. New members will be given two (2) complimentary Fitness Evaluation/Personal Training Sessions. Membership to the Palestra Fitness Center is an annual contract, billed quarterly at $110 or $125 each quarter (depending on age) and pro-rated by the month you join. Members who add this option will have these fees billed quarterly to their house account upon admittance into the Penn Club. Only members of the Penn Club may become members of Palestra Fitness Center.

      Palestra Summer Membership 

      Palestra membership is available to full-time undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania during the summer. The graduating class is not eligible for this membership. This option is available for those who may or may not be 21 years of age, and is subject to availability - sign up early. Palestra Summer Members are not full Penn Club members. As such, access is limited to the Palestra Fitness Center facility and the locker rooms only. The squash courts at the Yale Club, Penn Club events, business center, overnight rooms, dining and banquet facilities are not open to Palestra Summer Members. Please download, complete, and fax the Palestra Summer Membership Application to sign-up for membership.

      Overnight room guests and guests of members must be at least 18 years of age to work out at the Palestra Fitness Center. Members are billed $15 per visit for guests of members. Overnight room guests do not incur a per visit fee while they are staying in the overnight rooms.
